Wood Duck on the Pond
My first Wood Duck captured with a colorful reflection on the water.
The view from of the northern sky from inside a barn near Garfield. You can see part of the big dipper.
My favorite location on the Palouse.
Northern Palouse Night Sky
I've been to this location by Garfield, Wa. a number of times to get photos. This time was differrent. The access road is dirt and traversed by local farmers and some photographers. Randy and I have permission to walk the field around the barn (always get permission don't trespass). We got there early following a beautiful sunset nearby and had about 2 hrs to kill. We parked and a number of vehicles passed by without stopping. At 10:30 we got out to start getting in position for photographing the barn with the night sky. About 11 a vehicle stopped by my truck and we could see a flashlight waving around. Randy hollered out "can we help you". The individual identified himself as the sheriff and asked what we were up to. He accepted our answers took down my license plate number then left. I found out from a friend that meth addicts and tweakers have been out stealing stuff from these abandoned buildings as well as parts of farm equipment. What is this world coming to?
Palouse Tractor Sunset
One of the compositions from an amazing sunset.
Taken from my favorite location in the Palouse.
Randy and I were out in February freezing on an earlier post of this location. The conditions were much better this time as we got out again for Astrophotography. This was taken around 1am to get more of the Milky Way core. We had to wait for the moon to set to cut some of the light polution. This is my 5th time to capture the Milky Way and I continue to learn how to better edit it to bring out its detail and colors.
Center Court Action
In between my granddaughters games I visited Center Court.
Rainy Palouse Sunset
A rainstorm provided wonderful light over looking the Palouse from Steptoe Butte.
Small spring storms can provide some of the best light.
